Sporting Excellence

Here at St. John’s, we firmly believe becoming a well-rounded member of society takes more than academic ability. School sports play an important role in a child’s development; instilling confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.

Parent Perception

What our parents think about our school…

When asked, ‘What do you like most about St. John’s?’ our parents said:

My daughter is happy to be there – if she’s happy, we are.

I can discuss any concerns I have – my concerns have been listened to and dealt with in a professional and personal manner (my concerns are not those of the school, teachers or curriculum).

Friendly, welcome, lovely staff, safe, calm environment.

Meg says, “there are too many things to list.”

It feels like a big family. All the teachers make an effort to get to know all the children Mrs Drinkhill always makes time to have a chat, even though she is very busy.

Staff are welcoming, out of school clubs are open to all, my child is happy!

The school always welcomes you, which makes it easier to seek help if needed. My child is progressing well and is always happy.

Open, caring, approachable, realistic – The whole child focus not just SATs/TEST driven!

Friendliness.

The school and its staff are very approachable.

Welcoming.

Caring and warm, friendly atmosphere present within the school in which the children are nurtured. Children are valued as the individuals they are.

The friendly atmosphere and good all-round standards.

Friendly, caring staff.

Friendly staff, good curriculum – my child is very happy.

St. John’s are always looking for ways for my child to improve in areas where she may be lacking. She is very well supported and enjoys her time there.

Approachable teachers, pleasant environment.

St. John’s has a warm, welcome to all visitors. The school has a very friendly, approachable attitude and this is reflected in the pupils. They always seem to be happy and enjoy school life!

Well-organised and efficiently run.

Welcoming, friendly school. My child is very settled and content at school.

The staff and head teacher are always approachable and friendly and very thoughtful about not only school life, but home life as well.

The children are aware of the high expectations (both academically and …) and they rise to the challenges set. I think the pupils from St. John’s are, as a result, polite, well-behaved and they strive to do their best.

Friendly and supportive of each child as an individual.

Helpful, friendly staff.

Children’s enthusiasm when you enter the school.

When asked, ‘How can we make St. John’s even better?’ our parents said:

Keep doing what you are.

Keep going, keep improving, keep listening and responding.

Hard pushed to answer that, it’s brilliant just as it is.

Keep doing the great job you already do and look for new innovative ways to enjoy teaching and learning even more 

?

Get a bit tougher on them in year 5 and year 6 to prepare them more for year 7!!

Can’t. Brilliant as it is.

Other comments our parents made:

THANK YOU

A parent shelter would be nice – it rains a lot!

Make The Herald’s print larger!

The teachers and staff have always been approachable.

Overall, I have had a very pleasant experience as a parent whose child is at St. John’s. I hope that dealing with the Grammar School is an equally pleasant experience!

Love the texts!!

My child is happy, so I am!

Keep up the good work!

The teachers and pupils are a credit to the school.

The variety and number of out of school activities has been excellent, particularly in year 6.

I think the creation of the new Primary School will greatly improve the ‘school experience’.
