HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL
Last week our children were very busy raising money for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. During break times some children were selling cakes and biscuits whilst others had organised a white elephant stall. The children are hoping to have raised enough to send a shelter box out to Haiti. Hilary Smith, Headteacher of Springvale Primary School and member of the Rotary Club, came in to school on Wednesday to do an assembly for the children about the Shelter Boxes.
On Friday we had a Non-Uniform Day...some children didn't bother to get dressed that morning, turning up in their pyjamas!!
We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who supported us and donated cakes and biscuits etc.
LONDON MARATHON
Mr Cousins our school caretaker will be running the London Marathon again this April. He will be running in aid of CLIC - A children's leukaemia charity. Last weekend you may have spotted him fundraising in Morrisons...dressed as a nurse!
Here at St. John’s, we firmly believe becoming a well-rounded member of society takes more than academic ability. School sports play an important role in a child’s development; instilling confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
